![]() ![]() ![]() ++++ TIPS - PLANNING YOUR FLIGHTS +++++++.++++ ESTA (USA) and eTA (Canada) requirements for visa-exempt foreign nationals ++++.I am happy for 13 hours where I absolutely cannot do anything, but just those things I want to do! I truly believe that a satisfactory experience is determined by one's own attitude rather than anything else. I have never had difficulty putting them back on again, but I prefer to spend my 13 hours in shoeless comfort.Įvery minute I am on the plane I remind myself I am not shopping for groceries, cooking a meal, scrubbing a floor, driving in traffic, answering mail, going to a doctor, bathing the dog, mowing the lawn, cleaning the pool and before I was retired I had a much longer list of things I was happy not to be doing. I take lotion, face cream, facial cleansing cloths, eye drops and handiwipes. (After hunting for a decade I finally found some that look fashionable rather than like a refugee from the nursing home) I force myself to get up and walk around the plane once every 90 minutes, except when I am sleeping. I take asprin daily for a couple of days before the flight as well as the day of the flight. I take a couple of sleeping pills to facilitate this, and usually get about 8 hours of sleep. Drink lots of liquid, but no alcohol! I set my watch to destination time when I get on the plane and try to arrange my eating and sleeping schedule according to the time at my destination. I do many of the same things others have recommended. He takes his iPod loaded with plenty of songs and 6 to 8 movies. My husband cannot stay interested in reading as long as I can. I have three waiting for my next international flight. I save books by my favorite authors for long flights. I think that 13 hours where I do not have to do anything is a luxury and I plan to take advantage of such a unique opportunity. There is nothing worse than being boxed in by sleeping people and wanting to go! If you board and see there is a better place to sit as the attendant if you can move after take-off. Middle seats tend to be shuned but I prefer them as the seat next to me is often empty. Go look at and take note of the seats to avoid. If there are no free seats make sure you don't get a seat that does not recline. People hate that row so it is often free and you can lie down with the seat belt extended to the max. Especially the last row which does not recline. Wiggle and move your limbs around when you are awake and walk around if there is no turbulance.Īlso ask at check-in if the plane is full and whether you can get a row with free seats beside you. I always watched a movie, then have a small dinner at which time I take 2 Gravol which acts as a muscle relaxant. Pre 9/11 flew NY/Atlanta-Johannesburg - 15/16+ hrs non stop (all flights stop now along the way now.) ![]()
